Gas Land Watford

Rovers have been drawn against Watford in the first round of the Capital One Cup for the third time in six seasons. The Hornets reached the Championship play-off final last season but lost out to Crystal Palace, so alongside the relegated Premier League sides they were the toughest team we could have faced at this stage. The game will take place on the first Tuesday after the season begins (week commencing August 5th).

The Gas travelled to Vicarage Road in 2008 for the first of our recent meetings and suffered a 1-0 loss due to a goal by Will Hoskins - his first for the club. Of course, the striker moved to Rovers 2 years later. We last faced them in 2011 in a game that was rearranged due to the riots taking place around the country and when it did Rovers came out on top. Watford went in front through Marvin Sordell but a stunning Matt Harrold strike restored parity. The Gas won on penalties with Mustapha Carayol scoring the all-important spot-kick to cause one of the upsets of the first round.

  1. Incredible! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It's on a totally different topic but it has pretty much the same page layout and design. Outstanding choice of colors!
